An aircon does not use up its gas. If the pressure is low, there is a leak somewhere, so the technician finds and fixes the leak before topping up, or the problem comes back.
Signs you need it
Cooling stays weak after a service, frost or ice forms on the copper pipes, or the outdoor unit runs but the air from the indoor unit is barely cool.
What the technician does
Pressure is read with gauges against the unit's refrigerant type. Flare joints and the coil are checked for leaks. Once a leak is fixed, the unit is topped up to the correct pressure and the cooling is measured again.
What to send us
The brand, horsepower, and age of the unit, the refrigerant type on the outdoor unit's sticker if you can see it, and when it was last serviced.
