Safe to check first
- Slide out the filters, rinse them under the tap, and let them dry
- Set cool mode at 24 °C, not fan or dry mode
- Clear anything stacked around the outdoor unit
Call a technician when: It is still weak with clean filters, or you see ice on the copper pipes.
Never open an aircon, heater, or DB box cover yourself. If you smell burning or see sparks, switch off the main switch at the DB box and call.

How often should I service my aircon?
For units running most nights, every three to six months. Units used only occasionally can go longer. If you see dust on the filters or water dripping, it is due.
What is the difference between a normal service and a chemical wash?
A normal service cleans the filters, sprays the coil in place, and flushes the drain. A chemical wash takes the indoor unit apart so the coil, blower, and drain tray can be soaked and cleaned. It is for units that smell, drip, or cool weakly after a normal service.
Does my aircon need a gas top-up every year?
No. Refrigerant runs in a sealed loop and is not used up. If the pressure is low there is a leak, which should be found and fixed before topping up.
