A tripping main switch is doing its job: it has detected current leaking to earth. The fault is usually one circuit or one appliance, and it is found by testing each one in turn.
Signs you need it
The main switch trips when it rains, when one appliance switches on, at night for no clear reason, or will not reset at all.
What the technician does
Each circuit is isolated and tested for insulation resistance to find the faulty one, then the socket, cable, or appliance on it is checked. Damaged wiring or fittings are replaced and the RCCB is tested.
What to send us
When it trips, what was switched on at the time, whether it resets, and a photo of the DB box with the cover closed.
