Treatment is chosen by what the inspection finds: baiting to eliminate the colony, a liquid soil barrier to keep termites out, or both.
Baiting
Bait stations are placed where termites are active and in the soil around the house. Worker termites carry the bait back to the colony. It works slowly, usually over several weeks to a few months, with stations checked on scheduled visits until activity stops.
Soil treatment
A liquid termiticide is injected into the soil along the building, sometimes by drilling small holes through floor slabs that are sealed afterwards. It forms a treated zone termites avoid or die crossing.
Before the visit
Leave the mud tubes and activity untouched so the bait can be placed on them. For soil treatment, move plant pots and stored items away from the walls being treated.
