Ampang runs north-east from KLCC along Jalan Ampang and Jalan Ampang Hilir, with older bungalows and terraces in Taman Ampang, newer gated landed homes towards Taman Dato' Ahmad Razali, and condominiums along the LRT line.
What we usually see in Ampang
Termites in older roofs and door frames
Houses from the 1960s to 1980s often still have timber roof trusses, wooden door frames, and built-in cabinets that termites feed on. Mud tubes along walls, hollow-sounding skirting, or wings near windows after rain are the usual first signs.
Ants, cockroaches, and garden mosquitoes
In newer terraces and semi-detached houses, most calls are about ants in the kitchen, cockroaches coming up through floor traps, and mosquitoes breeding in gardens, gutters, and potted plants.
Cockroaches and bed bugs in condos
In condominiums, cockroaches travel between units through refuse chutes, pipe shafts, and shared walls, and bed bugs often arrive with luggage or second-hand furniture. Treating one unit works best when neighbours and management know about it.
Gardens, timber, and termite checks
Larger homes with gardens, timber decks, and built-in woodwork need regular termite inspections, and leafy streets mean more mosquito breeding spots and wasp nests under the eaves.
